Hello, Can anyone help, I currently work in a special school as a class teaching assistant for an early years/pre school group 2 days a week. I want to do my nvq 3 in supporting learning/development /teaching. But am worried now I won`t be able to do it because the children I work with are from 3 to 4years old. Does anybody know if it would be possible to do the course or do I have to work with older children.I Am wondering whether I might be able to volunteer in some other classes one extra day a week to gather experience but not sure if this will be enough to do the nvq 3. I could see the nvq assessor next week but am very unpatient at the moment!! ha hope someone might be able to shed some light on my situation, cheers so much

Hi NWM
I'm currently doing my NVQ assessor award in CCLD, so I'll try to help a little bit (Past SEN teacher too!)

You can do a level three with pretty much any age range in the birth to 16 range, but some of the units are geared up to under three's. You have to do 5 manadatory units and four optional ones. Have you done Level 2 already as if so you will know lots already about the structure and the ways in which some evidence from one unit can sometimes be used in another similar unit.

Good luck with meeting your assessor

thanks, the course is the cache level 3 nvq in supporting teaching and learning in schools not the childcare nvq, so I think I might of given the wrong information out, therefore still none the wiser!
