Nottingham uni freshers

Hello, DD starts Notts uni this sept & is confused about freshers events she’s getting bombarded with marketing for. These selling tickets for big events in the city - I am of mind she just plays it by ear & that much initial socialising for freshers will take place within halls & in campus club/bars.. then she’ll find her people & they can figure out together what to go to- or do they all go straight out & hit the town the first night??! Has anyone got a YP there who can help?!

Mine went to Nottingham, and yes, they went out the first night. Some of these nights are themed, so mine did have certain things with them (Hawaiian costumes for example). I can’t remember them buying tickets in advance, but it was a couple of years ago.

I think they have a great week at the events and it’s great for meeting people.

My son has been told on a university WhatsApp I believe, that to wait on buying tickets to freshers events until you are there, so you can see what others you meet are doing.

ds2 did not do any of the big, pay events. But there were certainly things also going on on campus and in his halls that he did do and met people that he stayed friends with throughout.
