DS is going to Brighton university.

Does anyone have any direct experience and can share any hints/tips for whilst he's there?

He's booked into halls for yr 1...

My child is also going there, following with interest!

He might be your DD when he graduates.

It's got a bad reputation for research by OK for teaching
Looks good for parties

It’s extremely expensive! But you probably know that already. Great place of live for 3 years, we looked at it for Dd but she has chosen MMU instead. My friends who have children there all absolutely love it so am sure he will have a brilliant time.

Really really expensive- dont know why you would go to a uni with a meh reputation in one of the countrys most expensive cities

Brighton is absolutely great for students. He will have a great time. It is very expensive for accommodation so do try to get him in halls for first year.

He is in halls, but we are indeed conscious that it's notoriously expensive.

Hoping for any insider knowledge of cheap eats, cheap shops, cheap things to do etc

I appreciate the uni will pass a good chunk of info like that on, but DS has ADHD and will absorb little,.so any heads up will be gratefully received.
