Thankyou. I'm more nervous than ds2 I think.

Can I just take the opportunity to ask what admin needs to be done on Thursday? All emails etc go to ds and he is autistic. In some ways he is extremely organised but with paperwork not so much and he tends to avoid all forms of communication.

Hi there, my youngest was last year's cohort but in his case he received the "you're in!" email from his firm choice when we were driving to pick up his results. Once we were back home it was just a case of following the instructions on that email to confirm he was accepting the place, this is the most important one to respond to ASAP.
Over the following 2 weeks there were a lot of emails re accommodation, user accounts & passwords etc.
It felt pretty full on but we received useful support on here, my DC are at Bath & Durham if that's any use to you 😊

Good luck everyone.

My DS has only just decided he wants to go to uni - he gound out about a specific course last month and when we visited there was still time to apply for September 😀 He's applying through clearing.

UCAS form has been completed, we're now waiting to hear from HOY for a reference, then he can submit it. Hopefully he gets accepted, if not he will apply for next September.

Yes, good luck. It’s not the end of the world if they don’t get what they want. Just a different pathway.

I wonder if different unis have different systems? My DD got her first choice last week (we're in Scotland). She got the "You're in" email but only had the option to reject the offer, no option to confirm. Her insurance choice disappeared from the UCAS portal. Anyway, I know what all you parents and grandparents in England are feeling because this was us last week up here in Scotland. Good luck! It's so stressful.

NewLeafNewStart · 11/08/2026 20:58

Yes last year my dd saw here you're in email from her uni, before the results 9am came up on online few mins later

We had a few screens on a tne same time lol

If you have an offer and get the grades and on A level day the Uni confirm the offer, how long do you have to reject the offer (if you have decided to pursue a different path)?

You can reject right up until enrolment day.

I'm not sure what to do on Thursday morning. I asked DS if he has his UCAS login and he said yes. I'm not sure whether to just pretend to be asleep until he finds out and decides to tell me or ask my doctor for some diazepam and knock myself out until its all over wait around while he gets his results. I'm so stressed out about it. Especially as hes going off his insurance place. I don't know what to advise on that. I don't know whether to encourage him to just go for it or let him make his own decision.

I'm going to be available. Wake up before him and be around when he look at UCAS in case he needs support. I've offered to go to college with him for the results. They seem big but they still need support. Good luck for Thursday.

DS2 has told me he intends to ignore all emails as he wants to get his results at school with his friends. His choice, obviously , but...gah 😆I have at least got confirmation that he'll text me and his Dad before anyone else.

Then we have celebration cake in the afternoon, celebration Nando's in the evening, and celebration curry the next day.

Whatever his results are, we're celebrating.
