Wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation to get some advice about student finance/other financial support available for parents who are studying in Higher Education.
I'm applying through clearing to hopefully start either a Nursing Degree or Nursing Associate Foundation Degree. I spoke to a clearance officer at a local university and they think based on my qualifications I'm more likely to be accepted on the Nursing Associate course. I'm happy to study this but it looks like the financial support for doing an NHS course doesn't apply for the Associate course. Which would mean I wouldnt get the £5000 NHS bursary or £2000 childcare allowances.
I don't know where this leaves me, when I've looked at the other financial help for childcare for students, it says up to 85% paid for 2 children for families who earn up to £28,000. My partner earns £36,000. and that is £360 a week for 2 children,
Does this mean all I'll be eligible for is the Maintenance loan? Has anybody claimed Universal credit while studying? Would my 1 year old be eligible for any kind of government funded childcare that working parents are?
If anyone has any advice, or have a source I could get this information from that would be incredibly helpful, as I cant find any helpful answers through ucas/student fincance/goverment website/ universal credit.
