Help finding accommodation in London!

Can anyone help as we are slowly losing the will !!
DD is going to be going to London for post grad studies this September, and she cannot find anywhere to live!
She doesn’t know anyone, so is looking for a spare room in a house share.
Has been messaging constantly on Spareroom and some Facebook groups, but either, they don’t want a student or the rooms have gone already.
Letting agents seem to deal in complete houses/flats, not individual rooms.
Is there some other avenue we haven’t discovered yet?
it’s getting quite urgent now.
Would love to live Clapham area.

You're right, and I wouldn't want to be the only working person in a house of undergrads for example!

@dreamingbohemian Deptford is a great idea.

She can get a train to Denmark Hill so anywhere on that line or there are plenty of buses. I'd look at bromley, brckenham, hither green, Greenwich, deptford

DS was at Kings and lived in Bermondsey, it was quite convenient travel-wise.
It was a few years ago but he met his potential housemates at an event organised by the accommodation office, apparently almost like speed-dating! So a few of them got together and then house hunted together.
Timing-wise, this was in August immediately after the A level results came out, they looked online for properties and I think not all of the group even saw the house before they accepted it.

Dulwich, East Dulwich, Crystal Palace are easy and green spaces, Clapham is too far

Clapham is quicker and more convenient on the tube but it will be impossible to find a place I'm sure.

Those areas are more for families than students I think, and will also cost a bomb!

OP I'd try to focus on Zone 2 on the District/Circle/Piccadilly/Central or even Jubilee lines, or Zone 2 on trains going into Charing Cross or Cannon Street (it's a 5 minute tube journey from Cannon Street to Temple)

I’m sure there will be a student accommodation Facebook page for the uni’s students where current students advertise spare rooms etc.

Actually that's not true. I lived in both Clapham and Dulwich. you can catch an overground from Dulwich / Herne Hill etc and it gets into Victoria etc super fast

Yes but then you still have to take the tube from Victoria to Temple. Northern line goes to Charing X and then it's just a 10 minute walk. But it's moot, I don't think it will be possible to find a room there!

Has she tried Clapham Junction? Direct bus (88) to Tragalgar Square for The Strand.

DS went to Kings. There is loads of student accommodation. He was in Denmark Hill. Lots of options.

Ha- my 28 year old sons flat share girl is moving out and in with her boyfriend -he’s just about to put it up - nice flat in mansion block in lovely leafy bit of nice Belsize Park - small double , but own bathroom 90% of time- he’s got an en-suite- he’s a friendly sociable and really respectful 28 year old, in Tech, £1400 all in .

@ScrummyDiva2 KCL students can use the University of London housing service here: https://housing.london.ac.uk/ They advertise flatshare places for postgrads.

I lived here when a postgrad. It's mainly international students but some from uk too
