Accommodation for Oxford masters

DD’s college has no accommodation for her for her masters - 30 on the waiting list - so looking into other options - anyone have any experience if the wait list may move as she would prefer to be in college if at all possible for her MPhil? Many thx also looking into other options and would love some pointers if anyone has had this experience! X

Which college/faculty if you’re happy sharing? If her college is very central she way struggle to find affordable housing in the city centre but there are lots of other people in her position and hardly anyone actually lives in the city centre if not in college accom.

Oxford is small and easy to get around by bike, bus or on foot. Lots of students live on the Cowley Road area, it’s not the most upmarket but is cheaper, very lively and fine if you keep your wits about you. Headington is a bit nicer but more dull.

OxGradHousing on Facebook, Daily Info and Spareroom are good starting points for private accommodation. She can also look into university-owned graduate accommodation like Castle Mill.

Is it that the places have already been taken, or that they have limited accommodation full stop ? I thought all the colleges have some post grad accommodation, but that is because the ones I know do.
Is she an existing Ox student, or only going there now for her Masters ? As if the former she can ask the people leaving her course in September, as some will be in shared houses. If she is new to Oxford then finding a student on the course currently, and asking them if they know of any rooms coming up might help. Or she can message the head of the MCR.
