Student finance application help needed

chatchatchatty · 28/04/2026 17:07

Just applying for student finance, deadline is 16/5 do I still have time to fill in the postal form for income or will it delay things too much?
Also need to post copy of birth certificate as passport out if date. Does it still only take 4 weeks with postal info? Thanks

Can you not submit online, don’t recall sending anything.

yes surely do it online. Last time as a parent I just supplied my Ni number. Nothing to post unless you are not eligible for a maintenance loan @chatchatchatty ?

The 15th isn't a hard deadline - after that time, they don't guarantee that money will be available at the beginning of term. But I have known many apply later and still have money in time.

My dd applied the week before she went and she still got it on time.

Thanks for the replies, I was looking at the guidance notes for the form but when we completed it online it said we can upload a birth certificate.
They have send an email about parental income, does this mean my dd wint be able to see the income figures?

DC doesn't see the income figures (as it's on the parents account part/submission). In fact, online, you (parents/supporters) don't enter them, you just enter your details and they use HMRC to get all info.
It may be different if you do self assessment tax, but for bog standard situation it was very straightforward - did it in about 15 mins a couple of days ago.
