Applying for minimum maintenance grant on form PN1

(Sorry for putting 'grant' in the subject, Mumsnet won't let me change my dumb error.) We are planning for our teen to apply for the minimum maintenance loan only. This is because there's no point in going through parental means testing as we would only get the minimum. On form PN1, on page 32 under 'Loan request section', would she leave the 'Maximum available to you' box unticked under 'Maintenance loan' and write in £5,048 where it says 'If you wish to apply for less than the maximum available to you, please state the amount'?

I can't think what else it would mean but I have been known to misunderstand forms in the past by taking them too literally. Thanks!
