Hi everyone, here's the new thread!

So DS didn’t get an offer from Glasgow on his birthday but got it this evening. That’s the last one in for him and he will now firm/insurance so we can get registering for accommodation.
Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Tsuipen · 16/02/2026 19:57

Hi everyone. Good news on all the offers coming in - congratulations to all. I have been lurking but not posting as nothing to really add.
DD has done all her interviews. Rejections from Oxford and Leeds and still waiting to hear from Sheffield and Birmingham. I am finding the process pretty tough, so goodness knows how she’s doing. She did get an offer from her backup Biomed course though, although not sure what she’ll decide if it’s the only offer she gets.

ProseccoPie · 16/02/2026 20:37

Ok, so my dd got a wait list for Bham a few years ago. Firmed something else.
On result’s day Bham offered!!
it’s definitely worth going on wait list

PurryGrowls · 16/02/2026 20:50

Well done @Itsallstressstressstress snd fingers crossed for those last 2 @Tsuipen I hope your daughter’s ok.

We never really considered this as a factor when applying but uni response times do seem a v important consideration. For eg, Southampton - why do they leave all their interviews till late Jan / Feb - considering they’re just ranking UCAT scores? If Cardiff can rank scores and interview pre Christmas, why can’t they? The process is so drawn out and unnecessarily hard on students, very hard for them to focus with so much uncertainty. The releasing of interviews and offers in dribs and drabs is particularly infuriating and unsettling!

bluefineliner · 17/02/2026 07:08

@Itsallstressstressstress congratulations to your DS on Glasgow. Remind me again where he now has to choose from? Is he going to firm and insure early or wait until he has been to any OHD (if not already been)?

@Tsuipen Does your DD have anyone else in her cohort not hearing from med too? I can sympathise with the stress from waiting for you and your DD. Although my DD is very lucky to have one offer, she is waiting for the other 3 still. I keep referring her back to her peers in similar positions to make it feel more normal. I think social media makes it look like loads of students have all got multiple offers which is so distorted but unsettling for our YP at the same time.

DD has managed to connect with a few other offer holders so has arranged to meet them at the Leeds OHD. This is really nice for her as she doesn't have any friends doing med so has been very much on her own until this point.

Hope everyone else is enjoying half term and managing the be distracted for now!

Does anyone have more interviews lined up?

Itsallstressstressstress · 17/02/2026 07:18

@bluefineliner he has to choose between St Andrews, Dundee and Glasgow. He knows his first choice is St Andrews and fairly sure he will choose Dundee as insurance. We attended all the open days so he has an idea of them all.
He is away just now doing DoE so won’t be back until Friday, we said we can go over the options and if he’s happy we can select but if he wants to wait for offer open day then he can. I know St A’s do them need to check on Dundee and Glasgow.

Hey @Tsuipen we've not heard back from any so we are still waiting. Like you we heard from the biomed course almost immediately, so I guess there is that...

Looking at our choices, it looks like we'd be lucky to even hear by end Feb! I don't understand how these places can have such different ways of sifting through. Our first interview was in early Dec - and according to the website they were only interviewing on 2 days (online, asynchronous)...but now, on social media we are seeing that there are interviews still going on (good for those students) but the website still says that interviews will only take place on those 2 dates!! (and no, it was for the A100 students...not graduates, not WP, not anything else).

yeah I agree re the dribs/drabs approach also with the offers post-interviews - it's unsettling and makes it seem like the express lane at Thorpe Park v rest of the world queuing for an hour.

Admissions teams are tiny. And require the input of medical staff who also work in the NHS. Unfortunately it's not an easy or quick process and I know staff do their best to be as fast as possible.

This year has been an improvement ! 2020-2023 were hideous with most not getting any offer until March.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but nothing gets easier once they become a doctor. Exam results given out late/wrong and competition through the roof just to get an interview and a 50% chance of a job. Sorry, it's not more positive, let's hope change comes.

inae · 17/02/2026 17:08

Sorry to hear @Tsuipen ! Fingers crossed for the rest of the schools offering (sooner rather than later)!

And congrats @Itsallstressstressstress it's great to have choice!

UCL has started to send pre-interview rejections today, and it looks like they don't even send those all at once! 🤣 They're slowly (and painfully) releasing both offers and pre-interview rejections now. DD doesn't think there's any chance left to get a March interview. We should know by end of this week either way.

I'm not surprised. I guess the admission process is just preparing for later then 😁

Yes, we were a bit naive to the whole process to be honest, so we were fully prepared for another application cycle, this time with our eyes wide open!

Its a beautiful campus with plenty accommodation.

Norwich is safe little city, very quaint.

Dd loves the course, out on placement from week 3.

Faculty seem very supportive and look after their students.

Thank you - placements by week 3 sounds great, that was one of the aspects of the course that appealed to my DD, but probably didn't appreciate it was so early, amazing!

Thanks for responding, I appreciate it :-)
