Hi everyone, here's the new thread!

How did it go?

Driving lesson now, and revision, it’s never ending is it.
Thankfully my son got through his driving test in December so just head down for AH starting in April.

He said it was the best of the 4..! I don't know whether it’s the last one, so he’s had 3 previous interviews, or because the format was more discussion and panel interviews (like what we would be more used to), or maybe it’s genuinely the best. He thought the interviewers were nice… we shall see…

What’s AH?

Sorry, Advanced Highers.

@Peanuts79 well done on the Exeter offer. I have heard lovely things from those studying down there (wish daughter had applied there as family down that way).
Daughter received offer from UCL just now so excitement here xx

Thefatbutteredpig · 12/02/2026 17:07

Well done on ucl offer

and the Exeter offer earlier in the week

We are still waiting for HYMS and Nottingham. Does anyone know if Nottingham are still interviewing?

MyGreyBiscuit · 12/02/2026 17:31

well done to all offers received!! still waiting

OP posts:
inae · 12/02/2026 17:45

@MyGreyBiscuit us too! No offers yet (no rejections either). No news is still is good news, for now 🤣

How is your son coping with the wait? My DD has 'rebelled' and went to hang out with friends straight after her mock this morning, and won't be back until late evening. Week 1 of mocks done, week 2 mocks after half term.

@HelenofSparta congrats for the UCL offer, that's fab!

Vista123 · 12/02/2026 17:52

Congratulations to those receiving offers today. We just got one from UEA !! 😊

MyGreyBiscuit · 12/02/2026 18:01

hi @inae! he watched football and stayed up late last night... went back to school today, full day of classes. Mocks right after half term, and he turns 18 next week so all fun and games! I don't really know how he's coping to be honest (with the wait)... I just hope that all 4 of our schools (and yours) won't be dripping them in. he's quite chilled, but also pretty glued to his phone. I imagine when/if TSR or reddit starts dropping that people from those schools have received an offer, he (and I!!) will start stressing...

Great news. Dd is UEA. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Congratulations to those receiving offers today. We just got one from UEA !! 😊

Great that they are letting people know before half term - my sense of UEA is that they are a very organised and caring medical school. I am hoping my DD will have a good enough UCAT in the summer to be in with a chance of interview there.

Itsallstressstressstress · 12/02/2026 22:28

Apparently Glasgow are now making offers and it’s the last one for us to hear from. I’m hoping my son hears tomorrow as that would be a great 18th birthday present!

PurryGrowls · 12/02/2026 22:54

Great news @HelenofSparta and @Vista123 Congratulations! We are still waiting to hear from UEA…

Fingers crossed for your son @Itsallstressstressstress And I hope he enjoys his birthday regardless!

2025parent · 13/02/2026 00:13

Congratulations everyone on offers and good luck with mocks/prelims.

Fingers crossed for those still waiting.

The next ‘hump’ will be accommodation. Some are first come first served so mean do you wait for offer holders days or firm so you can get accommodation applications in?

bluefineliner · 13/02/2026 06:59

@Vista123 congrats on the UEA offer! @HelenofSparta well done on UCL is that all your offer in now? Your DD (and you) must be very relieved.

@MyGreyBiscuit hang in there, I feel your DSs offers will all come at once but all of them being later is a huge endurance test (which you are braving admirably!)

@2025parent oh I can't think about accommodation but know I'll have to. Liverpool asked applicants to reserve accommodation before they have had their interviews as it is first come first served. I told DD to do it but she hasn't yet so if she does end up going there she could be disappointed with her accommodation.

DD is still waiting for UCAS to update with her Leeds offer so she can book her OHD. The first one is 28th Feb so hoping she hears soon, although we don't need to plan travel so I suppose it doesn't really matter 😁.

Peanuts79 · 13/02/2026 10:55

Happy 18th to your DS @Itsallstressstressstress - I hope Glasgow come through for him today!

And huge congratulations @Vista123 and @HelenofSparta on the offers.

Let's hope there's a flurry today for those still waiting - I so wish there was a universal offer day for all, it would make it much more bearable knowing a date.

inae · 13/02/2026 11:04

DD got rejected by Exeter by email, no UCAS update yet. Well, she was waitlisted for A100 after being on hold. Offered biomed or neurosci alternatives (which she declined as she already has a Bristol biomed 5th choice offer which she will very likely decline as well). She did well in 4 stations at Exeter, but ran out of time in 1st one, not sure if that's the reason...

She is coping well - by doing revision for mocks. Definitely coping better than I am, although I'm doing my best to mask it.

We're left with waiting for Sheffield and Southampton offers. UCL has still not sent pre-interview rejections, but have appeared to allocate all their interview dates in March with the cutoff at 2190 and DD is 2180 b1. 😑

Edited

oh I'm so sorry @inae - how are you feeling? I think being waitlisted is not a bad thing because there will be other applicants who may reject the offer, or may not be able to be accepted come August. That exact same thing happened to someone we know. Long story short, they rang Exeter up on results day with their final grades, and Exeter offered them a place (they already had a place elsewhere). They are there now.

2025parent · 13/02/2026 11:10

Sorry to hear that inae. Fingers crossed she gets offers from one of the others soon but frustrating to be so close and close with UCAT for UCL. Good it isn’t distracting her from her mocks.

PurryGrowls · 13/02/2026 11:24

Oh really sorry @inae, this process is so hard. It’s heartbreaking to see all these students at interviews in their shiny suits and new shoes giving this marathon their absolute all - and knowing that so many deserving candidates will stumble at one hurdle or another just because there aren’t enough places.
So well done to your daughter for getting waitlisted, and fingers crossed for any remaining schools. Great she can focus on her mocks, I fear my daughter has taken her eye off the final hurdle a little - she’ll need to lock in (as the young uns say!)

inae · 13/02/2026 11:26

Thanks all, I'm feeling angry and anxious at the same time, if that's even possible 😞 DD seems OK on the surface, we made some jokes about it.

I don't know how waitlists work, but I think all rejected applicants are given that chance? No idea if they also issue straight rejections, probably not?
