Hi everyone, here's the new thread!

Congrats @Vista123 !

@rockstuckhardplace your YP is not waiting for Liverpool, am I right? Is it Leicester? Sorry I've got brain fog!

Correct - waiting on Leicester. She's applied for deferred entry, and they accept deferrals from current year applicants up to 1 April, so I'm hoping she'll hear after then. Also waiting on Dundee who I believe are trying to get offers out by the end of the month, although there have been April offers in earlier years. Leicester say they offer right up into June. So prepared for a long wait!

bluefineliner · 26/03/2026 17:46

DD got a Liverpool offer too! 4 offers, unbelievable but fantastic for DD at the same time. Good luck to anyone else waiting still.

inae · 26/03/2026 17:48

@rockstuckhardplace sending positive thoughts and I hope your DD gets both! 🙏

My DD's close school friend is waiting for their first offer too, after being pooled by Newcastle. I'm really hoping she got Liverpool, we don't know yet.

inae · 26/03/2026 17:54

congrats @bluefineliner that's fantastic! have they decided on firm and insurance?

congrats @bluefineliner that's fantastic! have they decided on firm and insurance?

Newcastle as firm but not decided between Leeds and Liverpool for insurance. Not much to choose between them really so it's up to her. She's going to decide tomorrow so she can choose her accommodation for NCL Monday. She is very lucky to have these decisions to make.

@Vista123 congrats to your YP, have you all decisions back now?

Yes, that’s all decisions back now. 3/3 medicine post interview offers (Cardiff, UEA and Liverpool), one pre interview rejection (Manchester) and Med Pharm offer (5th choice, Cardiff). Likely to firm Cardiff and insure Liverpool but not totally decided. Any views?

PS Appreciate that DD is very lucky to be in this position and mindful that things aren’t so positive for everyone. Stay strong and really hope that things work out for all
of your YP. This group has been so helpful and supportive.

@Vista123 is your DD going to the offer holder days? That might help decide which one to insure. They're all great schools, well done.

We just learned that my DD's school friend got rejected by Liverpool.

So heartbreaking and worrying! They're left with the Newcastle waitlist option and their 5th choice offer (which they don't want to take). Does anyone have intel about Newcastle: what are the chances to get an offer from the pool before May 13th or on results day? @mumsneedwine any thoughts?

mumsneedwine · 26/03/2026 18:57

@inae chances are quite good. Newcastle have gone to their waitlist the last few years - people will now start firming places so things get turned down and reallocated.
Also keep an eye out nearer results day. Medicine does go into clearing and having good grades can lead to offers.

inae · 26/03/2026 19:09

Thank you!!!

Ds was waitlisted four years ago by Newcastle.

He was able to mail them and ask for his interview score and worked out he was 1 point under the cutoff for an offer.

He did keep in touch with the med school by email every few weeks, reiterating Newcastle was his first choice and if a place were to be offered he would jump at it.

His good friend on the course held no offers and also got a call end May time.

Tell your dc friend to hang on in there, lists will start to move in the next few weeks as people firm and insure and slots open up.

inae · 26/03/2026 19:23

Thank you @Thefatbutteredpig !

FruAashild · 26/03/2026 20:39

DD still hasn't heard anything from Keele, neither a pre-interview rejection or an invite to an interview. If she's heard nothing by Easter she's going to firm the offer she has (from Sunderland which was very early with both interviews and offers despite using preinterview questions to screen candidates) since that's her preference.

inae · 26/03/2026 16:41

@crispy2019 Good luck with the offers! I heard both Liverpool and Southampton BM5 will send offers on Tuesday the 31st of March... but don't quote me on this, as it's hearsay from my DD’s aspiring med students' WhatsApp groups.

Southampton offers to GEM applicants (BM4) and WP/contextual (BM6) started yesterday.

Thanks…she’s had a Liverpool offer through late this afternoon 😅. Congrats on all the Liverpool offers 👏

FruAashild · 26/03/2026 21:13

Yeah, congratulations everyone on the Liverpool offers (DD is out today so I don't know if any of her friends have an offer yet).

PurryGrowls · 26/03/2026 23:59

Well done to those with Liverpool offers - amazing achievement given the stats! - and sorry for anyone who’s disappointed.

The wait goes on for Southampton 🙃

MyGreyBiscuit · 27/03/2026 02:00

Hi! Well done to all who’ve received offers so far! I’m out of the country and have little access!! Good luck everyone still waiting…like us!

Congratulations to all those who are getting some of these late offers! Sadly we missed out.

I wonder if I could get some opinions, please? YP has two med offers but they're exactly the same - AAA. Plus they have a lower non-med offer. Is it worth accepting both med offers, in case of lower scores on results day one of them might accept the lower marks? Or should they firm one med and the non-med as insurance?

YP is going to ask advice from school staff who supervise med applications, but I just thought I'd ask you wise folk your thoughts / experiences 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Does your YP want to do medicine? If yes, take the two med offers!

Personally, I would accept both med offers. The insurance offer may accept them on results day with a dropped grade

Yes that's what I'm thinking. Thank you.

Yes that's what I'm thinking. Thank you.

The only thing I would add is that between the two offers, you might want to check which one might have a greater possibility of accepting students if they are slightly lower. Ie if uni A seems stricter than uni B then best to put B as insurance since A might be less inclined to drop.

OP posts:
mumsneedwine · 27/03/2026 09:32

I'd put the one you like most top. Then the other one as insurance - no point putting the non medic one if not going to take it. Think of a plan B - retake A levels or do another degree and go for grad med (v v competitive and expensive).
Then focus on grades so it doesn't matter anyway !

Fairyfeet40 · 27/03/2026 09:47

DD also got her Liverpool offer. Just Southampton now as Plymouth and Sunderland were in December…. The others could take a leaf out of their books!

Itsallstressstressstress · 27/03/2026 11:00

Great to see more offers coming through, sounds like only a few more to come and then the immediate stress stops (until the exams...!).
