And @rockstuckhardplace and @Tsuipen and whoever is still waiting for their first, let's stay positive (although it's bloody hard not to worry). Those who applied to Southampton will need to stay positive until end of March as apparently that's when they offer.

Meanwhile fingers crossed for Sheffield. Does anyone know if they offer by interview score or randomly?

according to something on Reddit, someone had rung up Sheffield last year and admissions said it was random so as not to let the students guess where they are on the list.

Leicester drip offers, whereas Liverpool historically sends all offers & rejections on the last week of March

I really like the approach of releasing all interview invitations and offers/rejections at once, ideally on pre-announced dates. It prevents you from being on an emotional roller coaster for months. Invites end of Nov, interviews conducted Dec-Jan-Feb, offers end of March, waitlist offers end of April. We should campaign for fixed dates 😎

Fixed dates like Oxford and Cambridge have for all other subjects makes a lot of sense.

I also think a set date to release decisions would help. It was much less stressful for DD waiting for the Oxford decision than her other three.

You'd have to wait a lot longer for offers and there would be much less of them. They offer the top ones, reject the bottom as they go along. Majority are just held in score order. As they mark more this continues until May when people have firmed so they know they have filled all spaces/not given too many (they get fined ).

Admissions depts are tiny.

Rejection from Lancaster post interview. He's gutted as thought it went well and it was his favourite. Only Liverpool left now.

So sorry @wooly1962 Really hope Liverpool comes through for your son.

@Tsuipen thank you. It's such a difficult process. I'm happy for those receiving offers but sad for those who haven't.

@wooly1962 I’m so sorry to hear that! I really hope your son gets into Liverpool. A friend of my DD is also waiting on them, and it would be their first offer too.

We have good news: DD got her first offer from Sheffield at 6 pm today! Apparently, that’s when they release their offers every day.

It’s a standard offer since she is a home, non-contextual applicant. Her 4th subject didn't seem to impact it, though I suspect an EPQ might have reduced the entry requirements.

She is absolutely thrilled because she loves Sheffield, and I am so relieved. It feels like a massive weight has been lifted.

Good luck to everyone waiting! We’re still holding out for Southampton, but the wait feels much easier now.

So DD got a Lancaster offer today, wasn't expecting it until later in the month so a lovely surprise. 3 offers, just waiting on Liverpool now but DD is very lucky, it has been a stressful few months and we never expected she would have a choice of offers so we are all very thankful.
