Vice-Chancellors in trouble

I work for a uni and we got an email to say our VC has been suspended while allegations are investigated. I googled to see if there was an external announcement yet. There isn't, but I was interested to see many other recent headlines in my search results about VCs being suspended from other unis. It seems to be remarkably common. I wonder why? 🤷‍♀️

I agree with LincolnAcademic. Looks dreadful. She was off for awhile I seem to remember from somebody posted. They have to say it’s no reflection but maybe all tied up with the VC suspension. That’s been going on for ages now.

Good to get an update, but her statement makes clear that the saga is not over: https://www.timeshighereducation.com/news/see-you-court-says-exiting-london-vice-chancellor

Under her leadership, some key roles were consolidated, e.g. the Finance & Ops roles were combined as PVC Finance & Ops, and the Governance & External engagement roles became PVC Governance & External Engagement (or some similar title - its played down on his linkedin profile). All the internal governance committees were disbanded so there was effectively only one committee with the VC at the helm. There was a lot of financial decision-making power in what seemed to be a very small number of controlling hands (2 pairs of hands to be precise). Then the relationship clearly broke down between those 2 pairs of hands. What a mess!

I am gripped! And cheering the karma.

What a nightmare. Thought this was over months ago. Interesting article and quote from previous chair. Serious big hitter! University wasting money and clearly inexperience/ incompetence.
