DS is going to Dundee in September. What is Seabraes 2, down near the water like for first year? He's a quiet lad, not a drinker. But he doesnt want to be with people who just stay in their rooms.

Seabraes is good. It's very convenient for the big Tesco - a 5 minute walk, and also near to the uni, but 2 minutes from the bus stop to the hospital if doing anything medical.

DD's flat block was older (I think 90s built). The building wasn't lovely but her room was big enough, clean and warm. The kitchen was functional but not really that homely - DD said lots of other uni flat kitchens were nicer.

I think the flat itself is a little bit the luck of the draw in terms of who is there and how sociable they are.

Thanks for the info. We liked the location, and that there was a bit of greenery to walk through on way to campus. Interesting that the flats are not all the same. Did your DD's have the breeze block walls? I thought they were just in old Seabraes 1. They should charge less for the older flats! He first of all said West Park as it was described as being green. But we drove there and there's only the cemetery, no park or gardens. They ask on the application nights out or nights in. I think he should put nights in, DH disagrees!

Yes, DD's had the breeze block walls! They were painted cream though. The grottiest bit was the flat corridor which was a bit prisony, to be honest. But I always felt she was warm and cosy there which was good, and it felt homely, tucked into the side of the hill with that little bar's garden near them. Also Perth Road is at the top which must be one of the nicer bits of Dundee.

Not sure which number block she was but as you drive down it was on the right. I think the newer ones are on the left?

I think West Park might be very quiet and hard to get back from nights out?

I think the nights out/nights in thing is hard. Another of my dc is quiet and would hate being with proper party animals, but on the other hand, too many just like him and they might never leave the flat! (Having said that, there was a real mix in DD's flat, so they possibly ignore that question anyway!)
