Nottingham Uni via clearing?

DS is debating 1st and 2nd choices.

Has anyone here had a DC go to Nottingham uni via clearing?
How did things work out with accomodation? Were there many options left?
Last year there were places for the course in clearing, so as long as accomodation options wouldn't be terrible, he is thinking of putting a higher grade option as his insurance. My worry is not ending up with accomodation on campus.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

I don’t know the answer to your specific question OP but be aware (you may be!) that all on-campus accom in Nottingham is catered. This would have put it out of reach financially for our DC tho obvs that's not the same for all.

There is nice SC acccom not far from campus but I believe that does go quickly.

Thanks @clary
Choosing shared bathroom options would make it doable (not sure if they are more or less popular) but yes has been a consideration!

This year accommodation was guaranteed for anyone applying to Nottingham by a certain date which was I think about a week after results day. However a lot of the halls were full by then particularly the catered on campus ones and the better self catered so there wouldn’t have been much choice. I would encourage your dc to put the uni they want to go to first whether or not it is the highest offer in terms of points. The course my dc is on was in clearing but probably only had a few places as it disappeared off the clearing system very early on results day.

Yes my ds got into Nottingham through clearing last summer but it was one of his original choices and he loves it there - really glad it's where he ended up!

He got good grades but they lowered the requirements for his course so he easily met them. He easily got a space at his preferred accommodation (self catered).

Thanks all.
Nottingham is in the original 5 choices and DS really liked it. He has unexpectedly received offers for both wildcards so they will be the firm and insurance (unless he bottles this slightly risky move and puts notts as insurance).

DD is at Nottingham (not clearing) and loves it. Her friend got in via clearing and got SC accomodation about 20 minute walk from Jubilee campus. I think that that was where most clearing candidates went. OK if you're a scientist who will be mainly based on Jubilee but less helpful if you are eg a historian based on the main campus - could easily be a 45 minute walk from accomodation to faculty (although you could get on the shuttle bus between the two campus.

It’s 10 years since DS went to Nottingham, however, he is hopelessly disorganised , dyslexic and possibly ADHD, so was very late applying for accommodation, even though it was his first choice. He was offered Jubilee initially but was then offered Cavendish shortly before he started. He was a historian so Cav was ideal. So there is possibly last minute options.

DC offered on results day - catered halls on main campus. Got to list 6 choices, got 4th choice out of those 6.

Thanks all. This is really reassuring.
