Imperial College - when do we know reg interview?

I am wondering if IC has started arranging the interviews yet? DC got confirmation they received the application and it was with the department they applied for but we have not heard reg the interview yet.

Wondering how many people do they invite.

I would like to hear from other people who have also applied

At this point in the applications cycle your DC might have to wait a while because universities may be waiting for the UCAS deadline to assess a gathered field.

Depends on which subject. If you look on the Student room forum, there will be an IC spreadsheet of interviews and offers. Look at last years too which will give an indication of dates. For a lot of subjects, these are spread through from Nov to March.

What subject? Mine applied in October and had an interview last week. They send interviews in batches. I have an older child at Imperial and he didn't have an interview till mid February (also an early applicant) and received his offer in March so plenty of time.

Design Engineering; application sent in December; math test taken in October. Hopefully we will hear in the next couple of weeks

My child's was also engineering (not design) so I'm sure you'll here soon - it will be course dependent on timings. The waiting is the hard part - but hang in there - my eldest loves being at ICL so it's worth it!

DC still have not heard reg interview.

My son studies Maths, which they don't interview for, but he didn't receive an offer until March last year. He had heard from all of his other choices months before.

Thanks. DC thinks she will hopefully get an interview offer in the next two weeks or a rejection in March. I hope they get an interview invitation soon.

It is nearly end of February and DC still have not heard anything reg interview. It doesn’t look good/ does it?

Does your school have someone who can chase up on your behalf or at least advise you on what to do / what not to do?

I personally would be tempted to chase it, but then I'm a bit pushy. That may not appeal to them at all!

Yes, I was going to ask DD to follow up? I don’t think it hurts, I thought it shows initiative. Not sure if it is a good or bad idea. She got confirmation they received the application and the relevant department was looking at it in December. Math and exam was average so perhaps that is not helping

I thought initially it might be a typo for re. but then everyone seems to use it? Then I thought maybe medical school and it’s a registrar interview but that’s not right either.

I am with you I hate abbreviations and there are many which seem obvious for some people but not for me. Now I am guilty of doing the same.

Ah that makes sense. I’ve never seen it before though, only ever the standard “re.” as an abbreviation for regarding.

as an abbreviation for me “reg” would be regular or registration.
