The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the world’s leading STEM institutions, announced yesterday that from Autumn 2025 it is updating its undergraduate financial aid as discussed below. The Office of Financial Aid currently has an established policy of giving International applicants parity with American applicants. I assume but cannot guarantee that this will continue.
For all undergraduates from families earning less than USD 100,000 pa, tuition fees, room and board, lab fees and certain other costs - essentially all fees - will be covered by the university. For undergraduates from families earning up to USD 200,000 pa, tuition fees (currently around USD 62,000 pa) will be covered. For undergraduates from families earning between these two amounts, there will be a sliding scale of financial aid.
Details will be forthcoming and will be found at the MIT financial aid website.
(MIT is a private university)
