It’s all very exciting here as DS submitted his UCAS form on Friday and got his first two offers today. He’s over the moon. So pleased.

How exciting! This was us last year, waiting for offers. So glad it's all over tbh as it was also a pretty stressful time!

mondaytosunday · 29/10/2024 19:40

Good news! My DD got her first offer within 24 hours, and the last six months later!

That's brilliant. Well done your kid.
Mine got his first offer 5 wks after submitting to UCAS. And it was his first choice uni so that was very helpful.

TMIteen · 30/10/2024 03:19

All 5 offers in now. Didn’t expect it to be so quick - it’s only been a few days since submitting.

Speed of offers varies so much both by institution and department within. Some wait until the spring once all applications are in!

JamNittyGritty · 30/10/2024 06:54

Dd has been offered 3 of her 5, one has said they will hold til spring and last one we are waiting to hear. She’s very excited!

chickenpieandchips · 30/10/2024 07:41

Well done. DS did Oxford so waiting on that but offered his first choice after that and his 2 insurance ones so he's happy. Other higher one apparently offers late but he's not fussed about that one now.

Persephonisima · 30/10/2024 09:29

Crikey my DS is predicted 4A * and has an A * EPQ already. Not received one yet 😳

crumblingschools · 30/10/2024 09:33

@Persephonisima probably depends on course and university, not grades. Very competitive courses, offers may not be made until closer to deadline date.

Persephonisima · 30/10/2024 09:36

@crumblingschools thanks for that. He says he’s not bothered but as friends offers come flooding in, who knows !

crumblingschools · 30/10/2024 09:38

@Persephonisima what course? Some universities will tell students that they will notify any offers by certain date, so at least you know not to expect offers in the first few weeks.

Mine with similar predicted grades didn't receive any offers until after Xmas then got 5.

Misfitkickedoutonthestreet · 30/10/2024 12:48

@Persephonisima similar here - dd with 3 A star predictions, only one offer so far. I suspect the more ‘selective’ unis generally take longer. It’s been a bit disheartening for her as her friends have had a few come in already. I keep telling her it could be months but it’s a long wait when everyone else is getting excited and you start to panic!

Yes we’ve had a ‘kind of offer’ off York but they’re holding back until he goes to an interview. We don’t actually know what it is !

Intheoldendays · 30/10/2024 13:24

My dd applied for three last year, she got two offers about a week later, and the final one (York, where she is now) not for another couple of months. That was hard as York was her top want!!

That isn't an "offer" it is an invitation to interview. I had an interview at York about 100 yrs ago and it was after that they made their decision.

It really depends on the course/institution. Mine applied with grades in hand 5 As at Scottish higher and Edinburgh were mega slow with their offer!

Honestly in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter, but my son felt the same last year 😄 when you get to uni no one asks when your offers came in!

Nope they’ve said he has an offer but if he attends an interview the offer may change.

Are you able quote the wording exactly? It sounds like they might have a standard offer, but if the kid aces the interview, the A level requirements might go down, so from AAA to ABB or similar. Or it could mean they're a borderline case and they may retract the offer if the kid doesn't do well in interview. This is less likely though. I gave a terrible interview at York and they still offered me a place.

It’s a non compulsory interview ?
