Missed Open Day visits

As background to explain the situation, DS2 is ASD, he had quite severe anxiety and depression in YR11. He's recovering well and has gone from 50% school attendance to 99%. He still struggles a bit with stuff like choosing universities etc. He's predicted AA in Maths and Further Maths and B in Biology

I've been quite unwell myself (I had a breakdown) and also have 3 other ASD DC.

So we've missed the open days for universities he's interested in and I don't know what I can do, if anything.

What is my best way forward, I'd really appreciate any advice. The only person on either side of the family to go to university is my brother, and I'm struggling to read up and understand how it all works

With my daughter we started by thinking about what she needed/wanted from a University. The old Big City, small town, campus or not... we then looked at quite a lot of virtual tours (some are just on YouTube). We then did do some Open days, but also at least one tour not on an open day.
But you can also ask questions in places like this.
There are so many differences between Universities. For example some really value traditional exams in an exam hall, whereas for others all exams are takeaway ones that you can complete wherever you like within a time limit.
And that kind of thing can also vary between subjects even different components of a joint honours.

Thank you for the messages WithIcePlease and MollyButton. I'm used to EHCPs and tribunals but have been completely overwhelmed with the whole university process, so it's so helpful to get advice here Flowers

He has offers from Durham A star A star C - and Loughborough A star A C, both below his predicted grades. York offered him an interview with a view for a lower offer, but he declined (which he only told me about after(!)), but they will make him one. Bath is his remaining choice, which I know again is aspirational and competitive but it will be interesting to see what happens, rather than hopes resting on it.

That all sounds great. My recommendations would be to make sure he is in touch with the Disability team at the university before he arrives and apply for DSA as soon as possible when student finance opens in March - there were huge delays this year for students who left it to the summer or autumn to apply.

Another little update in case anyone stumbles across the thread in a similar position.
He went to offers holder days and he's decided on Bath with Exeter as his insurance.
