Birmingham Uni Accommodation - late entry

Hi does anyone have any experience of DC applying for accommodation at Bham Uni after the deadline for a guaranteed room has passed? Did they get in halls?

Birmingham were late in replying with an offer (tbf DD was late applying) so she's only just decided but she's worried if she accepts now then she wouldn't be in halls which would be very disappointing.

No experience but hopefully this will bump for you.

Have you tried TSR too?

Tatapie · 10/07/2024 20:08

Thanks, will suggest that too

There are lots of halls in Birmingham, she may not get her first choice of halls but there will be something still available, I have ds who has just left and dd who is still there and they say that they never fill them all

That's really encouraging, thank you

Update in case anyone searches in future- it was actually a nightmare, nothing left on campus and was offered a tower block miles away. Ended up going to a different Uni!

Sorry to hear that op - my dd hadn't read her emails and didn't have her room reserved after all but managed to get a room last minute at student roost, hopefully your dc is settling in well now

Was the tower block in the Vale? First years usually opt for the Vale which is on the edge of the campus about 25 mins away from the main teaching buildings iirc

Thanks, she is. To be fair she definitely wanted halls on campus rather than private accommodation.

No, that would have been fine! This was Belgrave View, 40 mins walk from campus!! So called partner accommodation.

There seems to have been some issues with the UoB accomodation this year, seemed to be quite chaotic even for those who had put it as a firm. My yp had put their preferences in, but when we applied for accomodation we didn't get that option, it was a bit stressful as we were on a budget. However she ended up in another part of the accomodation and it's worked out perfect for her.
