Maintenance loan

Hi, does anyone know what tax year is used to calculate how much maintenance loan is given? I'm sure when I filled in my part of the application online, it indicated 22-23.

I ask because my daughter's has come in about 2k less than last year, and I think it's probably wrong, but I want to get my figures right before she calls to query it.

Pretty sure it will use the previous year - so not the one just finished but the one before. So yes, for an application for funds for this Sept, it will be 2022-23.

Thanks - that's what I thought.

Yes, it's that. 22-23.

Also bear in mind that final-year students get a lower maintenance loan than other years as it's not meant to include the summer at the end of the course. (This might not be a factor in OP's case!)

Could your daughter just have been initially given the minimum? Last year my dd's application was approved straightaway with the minimum £4k something, and then about 6 weeks later we got a letter saying adjusted to...

I think that was done for most applications last year if they were past the first year. A kind of rubber stamp and then looked at in more detail later.
