internal course transfer

My DS is applying for readmission to a different course at LSE starting in year one again. It is in a different dept to the one he is currently in and they have asked him to write a personal statement. Do you think they will expect it to be the same quality as a normal PS or is there likely to be some leeway as an internal transfer @poetryandwine or other admission tutors any insight pls?

Hi, @notgoingtoplan24

I think it sounds like the admissions tutors for the new degree programme will be evaluating the application from your DS very seriously. I think it would be well worth his time writing an excellent PS. Best wishes to him

I don't think he should half arse it. As he's already there, and wants to change, they will expect him to have really evaluated the course and specific modules, and demonstrate a real reason why he wants to change and that it's a good fit. If anything it needs to be stronger and more targeted than the one for UCAS. If he can include anything about lectures he's audited on that course, that would also be good.

Also, I wouldn't denigrate the current course, but would play up things he's learned from that that are now leading him in a different direction. E.G. I really enjoyed x module and and feel that this new course has more of a focus on that topic amd is something I want to develop.

I agree with @murasaki DS needs to show he is serious, came to the new programme rationally and will stay with it

They really want to be sure he’s making the right decision this time. Not good for anyone if he’s unhappy again.
