Student Finance Query

Please can someone help as I’m tying myself in knots on the student finance site! Our household income is £120k and we are trying to figure out what the threshold is for receiving the minimum maintenance loan. At what earnings level does the child only get the minimum loan, and how much is it? We are in NI in case that changes things. Thanks for any help!

I believe the household income of just over 70k gets min loan and anything above this point this was what a friend was saying at the weekend anyway...

I know we get the minimum and our income is half of yours.

Our kids get the minimum and our income is around £80k. They also take bugger all off for two at uni at the same time.

it doesn’t even cover thier rent.

In England it's around £65k and over is only entitled to minimum loan. Presume similar in other nations.

Have you looked at the student finance NI website?

Thank you everyone! Sorry didn’t realise I had any replies. I’ve looked at the student finance site but it’s not overly clear, or it’s possible I’m not overly smart! What is the minimum loan amount then please?

@BeetyAxe , around £4700. There is a maintenance calculator on the .gov.uk website.
Also look at the Martin Lewis moneysavingexpert website and join the Facebook group WIWIKAU where you can search most questions to do with being a parent and uni.

Not in NI....much less there unfortunately. They also fund students choosing the RoI so will depend where they go. If they study in NI the max loan is about £5k, studying in rUK then max is similar to other nations.

Minimum is attached.
