Freshers’ Week - when?

Hi. Afternoon.

If the term or semester starts on Monday 16th Sep, does it mean that Freshers’ Week is that week, or does it mean that FW is from Monday 9th Sep, with students having moved into their accommodation on Sat/Sun 7th/8th?

Sorry for the dim question but I went to university in the Jurassic era and can’t recall. DS20 didn’t want to go to university, so I’m unsure!

Looking at the term dates for Glasgow uni these are the dates we are planning around

Usually they tell students when to arrive and freshers week is after they have moved in. So you get a slot for moving in, then Freshers then lectures. They might have different dates for y2/3 returning students. Has accommodation page got moving in dates posted? I would expect freshers and term date to coincide though.

Aaaah thanks. I thought that freshers might be one week before the start of term/semester which in the case of York (my son’s first choice) is Monday 16th.
