History at Exeter

If anyone has experience studying history at Exeter I'd really appreciate knowing how you / your children found it. Especially whether the lecturers are engaging and contactable and what the course is like. We went to the offer holders day on Saturday. It was DD's first choice when we we. She loved the campus but the taster lecture and seminar they put on was pretty uninspiring, no staff hung around to answer questions about the course and unlike everywhere else we've been there were only a few students to talk to so now she really uncertain. Was it fairly low effort because they have so many students to fill their course it doesn't really matter, or is that an indictor of what it would be like to be an undergrad there? All the other open days and offer holder days have been really engaging, but the Exeter course is the best match for their interests.

Sorry you haven't had any responses. Has your DD decided yet?

There's a FB group named Parents and Carers of Students at the University of Exeter which is very active.

If you ask the same question there you'll likely get a quick response

Have you looked at the NSS student survey? That can be enlightening. What they reported about DS's university choice turned out to be very accurate (he swapped after a month!). Spidey senses do count for a lot : we didn't rate the offer holder day for him either and every negative vibe was correct. Perfectly happy now, though (doing history as it goes! But not at Exeter.)

Thank you. I'll look into FB and the NSS survey.
