Term abroad - accommodation issues

Has anyone’s Dc done a term abroad and how did they deal with their UK room and trying to find a replacement tenant for just a term?

We had to subsidise as there was no one who wanted a room for a term and my son paid the rent abroad. So we paid double rent.

Someone from abroad doing the equivalent -a term at the UK university took the room

@charliecoopershair - hoping to avoid this!

@Flappingaround - did your dc’s uni put dc in touch with someone coming to study for a term?

You might get someone (rich) who has enough of their old flatmates or if your DDs private rental is nice someone coming in for a term who doesn't fancy the unis offering (halls with 1st years). Try local student areas Facebook groups.

I assume it was via the same team who organise the term abroad but not sure

If it is private accomodatiom ask the landlord/letting egnecy if they can sublet. Advertise on Facebook pages/spareroom.

If it is through the university try and see if they have any exchange students arriving who might need a room.
