Housing while in higher education

I'm looking for a bit of advice about my sister who is currently at uni. She stays with me over summer and other longer holidays like Christmas. She's living in student accommodation at the moment and I'm in a housing association house. I was wondering if it's possible for me to add her to my tenancy application despite her being away most of the year because really there's not enough room in my 3 bed house for her to comfortably stay for long periods. I've got 3 kids too so it gets pretty cramped. She's still got at least 2 years left at uni. Can you add someone to your application that is using another kind of housing too or will they not let you do that? Thanks.

if your home would be her home when she’s not at uni that should be fine. Uni students are generally considered to be temporarily at uni - that’s why they can be registered to vote at their home address despite not being there a bulk of the year.
