I am wondering if anyone has recent experience of SOAS? When I was a student, years ago, it was a very prestigious place to study and I knew one, genius graduate who led a very interesting life thereafter. I think I also once went to the student union bar, which was fine at the time. No other insights.
One of my kids is looking at Asian studies. She has taken several languages and is advanced in Chinese, with some basic Arabic (also advanced French and some Italian). She is looking at Oxford but that's possibly a stretch and I found the SOAS entry requirements for international students (which she will be as we live overseas) not as challenging.
But I know that not long ago they suffered some financial set backs and had to sell off buildings. I don't know how this has impacted the students / teaching / living arrangements.
If anyone has a kid there, or went there themselves, I'd be grateful for any kind of input. Thanks very much.
