DS going to St Andrew's beginning of September and said he's still not heard about his accommodation. He's applied to share a room and not en-suite. Has anybody else heard? We only have two weeks and he needs to start getting his stuff together.

My younger daughter is also due to start at St Andrews in September. She’s not yet heard about accommodation either. Thinks it will be Monday before they hear

DS about to go into 4th year at St A’s. They release accommodation in waves - be prepared to only have a small amount of time to get ready. We had to wait 10 days after results! Although we had most things ready, we had to wait for confirmation of the bed size before we could buy sheets!

That is reassuring, just making sure he hadn't missed an email. Will wait to hear before buying bedding. Just going out to buy him a warm winter coat!

@Karmacat From memory, his friend heard quite soon after results (DRA - en-suite self catered) but DS was one of the last (St Regs - catered) It seemed like they did a hall at a time.
Congratulations to your DS - mine has loved every minute of his time there and a warm coat is a definite requirement!

Ps - there is a parents group on FB. Quite American orientated but there are some useful snippets of info.

The a levels only came out on Thursday, most universities allow Thursday and Friday for people to confirm offers as needed (or reject, defer more importantly) then start accommodation allocations Monday. My dd definitely didn't get hers (another university) until the week following a levels

if he asked for a shared he will prob get it as that is not the most popular option

my dd got shared in the first year in uni hall - though wanted single - and it was an amazing room.

it is a quick turnaround for St. Andrews as term starts early compared to English unis.
