Uni start dates

DD has a (high) offer from Cambridge and an insurance offer from Durham. Does anyone know (roughly) what dates first year students usually arrive at both for their first term? I'm planning a big work event and have some flexibility around when it happens - don't want to find myself in Poland at a seminar and unable to take her to uni!

I'd like to know the same for Uni of Reading please if anyone knows, for similar reasons. The accomodation websites talk of a 'moving in' weekend but I can't see exact dates.

Cambridge and Oxford start term later than a lot of other Universities (into October) and she would likely be expected to arrive in college the weekend before https://www.cam.ac.uk/about-the-university/term-dates-and-calendars

Not sure about Durham but a lot of terms start mid/late Sept

Term dates for the University of Cambridge. The Academic Year commences on 1 October and finishes on 30 September each year.

Most first years at Cambridge will be moving in on Saturday 30 September or Sunday 1 October this year, but check with the college as they each make their own arrangements. Some international students will be arriving earlier.

Closer to the time, the college should email her with further details.

Full term (they have to be in residence by the time this starts) begins on Tuesday 3 October.

Week 1 begins on Thursday 5 October (the week runs from Thursday to Wednesday) which is when lectures start.

Thanks all. I had term dates but wasn't clear on when they actually arrived - had assumed it would be earlier.
Will just have to avoid late September and very early October. I'd hate to miss her departure so sounds as if I need to keep all options open.

Durham start 26 Sept so moving in will be either Sat or Sun before (24th or 25th).

In general -some may move in the Thurs or Fri (Manchester). If you email the accommodation office they will tell you.
