Can you change degree choice after offers have been made

DD has 5 offers for a humanities plus MFL degree. She hasn't firmed or insured yet. She's now considering just doing MFL.

From a quick read it seems she can change before end of June or go into clearing.

So is it possible to contact the unis who have made offers and see if they'll let her change her application? Are they likely to make her an offer just for MFL?

It’s worth asking the unis yes.

Speak to the unis, they can change her offer if space available.

This is what I’d advice my students to do. Call and ask. As pp says if there’s space they’ll change the offer. She only needs one or two to change the offer. Otherwise she will have to withdraw and try different unis up to 30th June then clearing. I think she will be ok though.

DD applied for PPL x 2, Politics/Law x 2 and War Studies and got offers from all her choices. She changed her mind about Law and asked PPL/Law & Politics offers to change to straight Politics via email and all changed their offer within a week. I guess it's down to how in demand the courses are, and whether you're changing to the less popular choice

My DD got her offers in March and then decided she wanted to change course at the uni of her choice (within the same faculty). She emailed the admissions team and they came back a week or so later and said it was fine. They then updated her UCAS tracker and she accepted the offer. So definitely worth asking the uni. I'd suggest email as then there's a record.

Yes, contact admissions and ask. DC enquired at an offer holders day, and the head of admissions said it happens often. All sorted within a couple of days. This was Russell Group uni.

Depends on how popular the courses are. MFL in general are struggling to recruit because fewer kids are learning languages, so she will probably be welcomed with open arms.

I changed my degree once I'd started. I was down to do anthropology and changed to ancient history (which had much higher entry requirements 😝).

It wasn't an intentional play of the system I just looked at the module lists and fancied ancient history more. This was 20 years ago mind you. So yes ask definitely worth a try!
