Anyone else with dc applying for Dentistry ?

I've been following the 2023 entry medicine threads as up to a point things are very similar but obviously after the interview stage, offer/rejection timing is going to be different.

DC is at the point of waiting for news now though and I'm wondering if anyone else is in the same boat ?

DS has three friends who applied this year, all A / A* students with decent UCAT scores I think. One got rejected from all unis they applied to, one had a couple of interviews then rejected and the other had only one interview which resulted in an offer.

It seems like a really tough process, and I believe they're planning gap years, UCAT resits and possibly more strategic applications for 2024.

Wow, it appears that MN is a bit of an "aspiring dentist" free zone.

@flotsomandjetsome do you know where your ds' friend's offer was from and the other friend's post interview rejections ?

My dc got interviews on account of GCSE/A Level and UCAT/BMAT scores but has had no news from any of them yet. The first and last interviews went badly apparently (1 online and 1 FDF) and they are not expecting good news.

The Student Room chat pages seems to indicate that one of the places that interviewed dc has already given out quite a few offers but as yet dc has no rejection notification so they are still on tenterhooks about that one. At least they're applying with grades in hand and not having to go through this at the same time as mocks/preparing for sitting A Levels.

I think the offer was from Cardiff, and if I remember correctly there were a couple of offers for alternative science Baer courses that the boys weren't keen on.

My friends child has had 4 interviews and been offered places from 2 so far.

My DD has just got an offer for the six year Bristol course! She had one interview last year and that led to one offer but missed the grades. This year she has had one interview from Bristol which has produced the offer. It's a tough process...Hope it works out for your DD Coho.

Thanks @ClarasZoo . Fingers crossed that your dd gets the grades this time round. She must be very good at interviews to have secured an offer from interviews 2 years running.

My own dc has found interviews to be the weak link in their application.

@mumofthree22 do you know which dental schools ?

Ah thank you - luckily she has the grades already for the six year course - she is not resitting again this year...
