Student finance question

Hi all

Don't know if anyone can help. Basically I already have a Foundation degree through the OU which I had a tuition fee loan for. I'd now like to do a full degree but in a different subject, its not clear from what I've read online whether I'd be eligible for student finance or not?

In what?
There are some exemptions for some science and healthcare degrees

Sorry only just saw your reply! It's Data Science that I'm looking at doing.

So are you doing a third 'top up' year to turn your foundation degree into a full degree? Or you want to start from scratch because the subjects are completely different?

If it's the former, you're fine. If it's the latter, you're not. You could get round it by doing the third year of your foundation degree and then doing an access course (or being very convincing) to get onto the taught masters course if this new subject you want to do - which will be funded.

Or self fund the first two years of the new degree and access third year funding.

Data Science comes under the list of science subjects for which you can get a tuition fees loan even if you already have a degree.

As long as you study part time....

For some purposes, OU counts as part-time even if you're studying full-time - I'm not sure if that includes this purpose, but quite possibly.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Have spoken to the OU today and they thought I would be able to get a student loan for it.

You can tell I only deal with humanities! Well spotted.

Data Science is also available through the apprenticeship levy at level 6 if that suits your situation.
