Hi!
DD’s laptop seems to be giving up which is bad timing just as she’s started second year!

She uses an iPad for lectures etc but does need to replace her laptop.

Ant recommendations? Current one is hp pavilion 14 ce 3501na and has been fine until now!

Thanks!

I got dd a huawei matebook 14s.

She loves it but the camera is in a funny place.

Other than that, it's perfect.
What's your budget?

I look for an intel processor that is i5 or better, and at least 8gb of ram. Then I read the online reviews of ones in my budget.

Totally depends on what she is studying. Does she need to run CAD, LaTex, MS Access, ARC GIS, programming compilers or other programs that need a fast processor/lots of ram? Or just essays?
For context I usually just work with MS Word and Excel and Photoshop and 8GB ram and an i5 5th Gen processor is struggling now, so my next purchase will be a machine with 16gb ram and at least an i7 but hopefully an Apple M1 Pro processor.

Something with a solid state drive (SSD) as she will be on the move with it and it's best not to have too many moving parts.

Thanks so much!

@PeekabooAtTheZoo Shes studying medicine so doesn’t need CAD or anything like that, but maybe I should ask her to check with her tutor to see if there are any programmes she might need to use in the future?

I’ll start looking tonight 😊

I'd just get a new HP Pavilion if you've been happy with that. DD just got a 14 with AMD Ryzen with £130 off at Curry's.

Absolutely future proof it. It’s worth spending more to get more storage and speed.
