Leeds accommodation

Hello!
Daughter has been offered and accepted accommodation at Leeds and paid £200 deposit. She's now decided it's in a horrible area and she doesn't like it. I know we can't change it now but does anyone have anything reassuring to tell me please?! She's staying in Central Village accommodation. TIA x

My son lived in Central Village for a year, loved it and the location is amazing.

Looks like a brilliant location! I was at Leeds uni 15 years ago before these flats existed and lived in Headingley at Lupton flats. Absolutely loved it there but I think this location looks fab too - close to uni, city centre and easy bus trip to Headingley.

Practically on campus, a short walk into the city centre and near the gym / pool. Where did she want to be?

Thank you very much for your advice 😊

Has she visited? Central Village is just that - right next to the campus and city centre. Students gravitate towards Hyde Park/Headingly in second year.

@Crappydoo When Dd was applying Central Village was her first choice though she was allocated elsewhere. It was brand new at the time, with en-suites etc & great location.

Lots of kids do want the on-campus accommodation but obviously there are limited spaces there. Most will get allocated off-campus.

I know exactly where this block is and can’t think of anything wrong with the location.

My nephew has applied very late after accepting a clearing place.

Only applied online last weekend.

Is there any chance he'll be allocated any Uni accomodation at all ?

There appear to be rooms still available in private accommodation units/blocks but he wants to be where there's more chance of being with other first years.

The whole Uni application experience has been a nightmare for him so far and I fear the accomodation situation will be an extension of that.

@ChristmasTreeRipoff All first years are guaranteed accommodation so hold tight. Dd shared with lots who had come through clearing, as I recall it took a few weeks from results day. So I would give it another week or so. But he can always contact the accommodation office & I’m sure they will give some assurance

Son was at Leeds. He said it’s an excellent location and absolutely nothing negative to say about Central Village .

Northlights · 30/08/2022 21:05

Central Village area is brilliant, near everything and 10 - 15 mins walk into town . Headingly better area for 2nd years . Leeds is great for students , your DD will love it .

LadyMacnet · 30/08/2022 21:15

What was your DD hoping for? Central Village is really well located in a safe area just next to campus and close to the city centre.

MrsEricBana · 31/08/2022 02:11

Agree with pp, it's a really good location. What is her preferred choice?

Crappydoo · 31/08/2022 09:44

Thank you! I'm not sure to be honest I'm getting a bit 🙄 with it all to be honest...kids!!!
