Final decisions

Hi all

Still waiting on Edinburgh (hoping it will be insurance choice) but DS has 3 offers - St Andrews, Imperial and Warwick. Imperial is pretty much discounted as they want maths STEP paper which DS doesn’t want to do in middle of A levels. So between St A and Warwick. Subject is Statistics at St A and MORSE (maths / stats / economic…).

Has anyone got any good links to graduate recruitment etc. The student rep we spoke to had a graduate job in London lined up which is the kind of job DS is looking for - so think city bank style work, maybe actuary. Warwick is closer by a long way but trying to make the decision on what will be best for his future CV / links with companies for internships. A quick google suggested Warwick would be better whereas I was expecting it to be the other way round. DS has been to both uni’s and really likes St A. He’s not a party person so think he would be happy there. But equally he would be happy at Warwick!!

Warwick is particularly highly ranked for Maths based subjects.

The banks that studentladder say investment banks recruit from are

Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Warwick, UCL, Imperial and Durham (in that order). Occasionally Nottingham or Bristol feature.

if that helps

Thanks @SeasonFinale. Yes Warwick seems to have the edge in the limited research I’ve done. My son is really not sure what is the best option. He does want to think about graduate recruitment and that’s why he’s chosen top uni’s. Both are good but it appear Warwick might have the edge. Warwick started off as 3rd or 4th choice and now we have been there twice (which might be why we are more impressed as had more dealings with them that they other uni’s) it’s crept up the list

Warwick. However universities won’t have links for internships. He will have to compete against other students. Doesn’t Warwick want STEP too?

SeasonFinale · 23/03/2022 17:51

@TizerorFizz Warwick don't insist on STEP for MORSE but will give a dropped grade offer if you have STEP 2

Ah. I knew someone who did Step for Warwick hence my query.
