I am trying to find out about undergraduate study at SOAS for a friend whose DD has an offer for politics and is keen on studying in a diverse uni. I have heard that SOAS is in danger of going under and many staff have been cut which will affect teaching quality. Does anyone have personnal experience or information?

I don't have personal experience but I doubt it will collapse entirely. One of the big unis will swallow it up and take it on as a department - UCL most likely, or Kings.

SOAS is an internal basket case. it continues on because in some subjects the teaching is brilliant. But overall I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole.

The DD in question is studying South Asia and is aiming for a career in international development for now.
