Visiting Norwich/UEA: help needed re parking/travel!

We are taking DS to the Open Day on Saturday and am just planning the logistics.

The UEA website says to park in the park+ride (NR9 3LX) and then you’ll be bussed in to the university. We also want to look around the city afterwards though-how would we be best off doing that? It looks quite a trek from the campus to the shops?! Do we get bussed back to the park and ride and then drive into the city or will that be a nightmare?

Any travel tips gratefully received!

Thickthorn is fine Grin It’s just a big roundabout! Not even that big tbh.

Maybe I’m just a wimp. I just really, really hate that roundabout.

But then I’ll quite happily drive into and around the middle of Norwich city centre any day of the week…..!

@Appuskidu

Couldn't you get a bus into town and then a normal park and ride bus to wherever you've parked?

I’ve no idea! That would be good though

Hmmm so I have just looked and it looks like Cottesey is just for the uni and the hospital :(

I only use Harford, so hadn't clocked, I'm afraid.

Bagels
It's fine!🤣
Even my 18 year can do it, saying that 55 year old DH does look stressed when he does it
Think it's what you are used to!

I’m with your 55 year old dh. (I’m 41). It literally makes me stressed looking at the photo…! I went to the McDonald’s at the roundabout yesterday as I had a scan at the hospital and that was fun. I’m still recovering!

Sorry to derail the thread.

Anyway…. Grin

Norwich is a great place to drive really. I am a nervous driver (can you tell!) and I drive pretty much everywhere all the time. I’d never get the park and ride as it’s so much hassle when you can just drive directly where you like. But that’s just me!

I think we’ll just drive up and back on the day now, tbh.

Reading the replies, I’m leaning towards parking in the suggested park and ride, doing the campus, busing back to that park and ride and then driving to the Thickthorn park and ride and going into town. It’s turning into the most complex open day I have ever been to!
