DS currently in year 12 but school is beginning to talk about UCAS applications and so on. He’s doing Maths, Physics and Computer Science but didn’t want to take Further Maths so we think that might rule out a few. It would be great to hear a few recommendations.

I can't offer any help, but I just wanted to add to the thread that my DS is also looking to study comp sci. He's Scottish and is in year 12 equivalent.

This year he's taking highers and one advanced higher in maths, applied maths, physics, chemistry, English and music. He is not taking computer science as the school couldn't offer this. Next year (year 13) he'll be taking advanced highers in applied maths, physics, chemistry and music. (Highers are similar to AS levels and advanced highers are the A level equivalent).

We don't have further maths A level in Scotland but I guess applied maths advanced higher is somewhat similar.

My son will be applying for mainly Scottish unis with maybe an English one thrown into the mix.

For Scotland I’d say in this order.

St. Andrews
Glasgow
Strathclyde
Aberdeen
Edinburgh/Dundee

Haven’t look as much in England but know good graduates in Computer Science from Manchester.

Think Strathclyde in Glasgow is excellent for computer science x

Aberystwyth or Swansea in Wales

Following as my ds is taking the same A levels and wants to do Computer Science as well.
Haven't started thinking about University courses yet as not sure what his predictions are yet hasn't had any test results back yet.
I did ask him to consider doing Further maths A level but he didn't want to, I think he would have been capable but wasn't keen, so I guess thats the very top Unis out.
