Sports scholarships?

Just wondering at what point in the uni application process are sports scholarships usually applied for? Before offer? After offer? After confirming firm/insurance offers? After starting the course? Or is every uni different?

Look on the Uni websites it should display any scholarships available and how to apply.

Yes, it should Gizmo, but sometimes it doesn't.

For example, Warwick's sports scholarship page says 'Applications are now closed for 2021/22' but has no information about when they re-open for 2022/23.

I've managed to answer the question for most of the other postential universities on DS's list. Some of them open and close before uni places are offered, so applicants can take it into account in their decision making (and possibly unis can takevit into account in their decision making too). Others don't open until the summer before the course starts.

Some don’t have scholarships but if your child gets a place and is an elite athlete, they will give extra help. That might be some flexibility around coursework around events like European championships, allowing part time studies, free gym access, bursaries of eg £2k towards travel costs.

Normally the student needs to be competing at national level / on the performance pathway for their sport.

I would say keep checking back every few weeks then or email admissions to ask what time of year the sports scholarships or sports bursaries are usually released and how long they are usually open for.

It will completely vary institution to institution, there’s no blanket rule. You can contact the finance team at each place you’re interested in to get a ball park idea
