Brighton has four campuses: Moulsecoomb (the biggest) and Falmer (next to the football stadium, and on a steep hillside), both out to the east of Brighton, Eastbourne, and City (in the city centre). I think the School of Art & Media is at City campus, so it will be a city experience. I think only one accommodation site (Phoenix Halls) is in the city, though.

Moulsecoomb and Falmer are a very short, easy train ride from the city centre.

Hope is a lovely campus but quite small as a uni and can feel a bit stifling I think. A friend went from large city RG to Hope and didn’t enjoy although teaching was good. Found the facilities quite limited.

Hope is also two campuses - one is city centre (creative campus) and one is about twenty minutes drive outside the city centre toward Woolton.

Brighton used to have an excellent reputation for media but has really really slid down every league table so something is up.

The places my past students have thrived in that ballpark offer area are Bournemouth, Lincoln and Nottingham Trent.

Ds2 is at Manchester Met doing Film Making. He is loving it, totally living his dream. Accommodation is in the city and close to lecture venues so he can walk everywhere, but this will change in year 2 when he'll have to move a bit further out. He would definitely recommend it.

Does Salford offer anything of interest? I have to admit, no personal experience of the university, but it does make a lot of its location for mefoa-relatwd courses.
