Our daughter is starting at UEA next weekend. Uni have block insurance but this doesn't cover bikes and neither does our household insurance. She's not taking it down straight away (don't ask me why!)- just wondering if anyone has any recommendations as to insurance companies just for bike insurance?

I have asked my daughter who she used last year. They were excellent when her bike got stolen from the uni bike shed the week before christmas (they removed a wall panel and then used cutting equipment) She had a replacement within a week. Havent seen the renewal quote though. Her new bike has lasted 9 months. Followed the tips fellow MNetters gave including a bad paint job and covering with stickers (Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol in her case). Plus the security at her new part time job has a reputation of being ahem thorough in the pursuit of thieves so that helps.

Maybe peppa pig stickers are the way to go then!

Turned out she was insured twice as she bought a Kryptonite Lock and it had theft insurance. Although Bikeys who dealt with claim and were very efficient.

Our household insurance did cover DDs bike (iirc the college insurance did too) - but DH considered the third party liability cover to be inadequate. So he signed her up to Cycling U.K. purely for that. They've got deals for insuring the actual bike too it seems so might be worth looking into.
