Lboro accommodation nightmare

Please can anyone advise. My daughter missed accommodation slot due to internet issues. She would like a modern room, in the village. She has sent her preference for onsite self -catering accommodation. But instead she was told to accept Royce (she is not sporty) that is not what she wants but was informed that then she would get the preferred choice. I very worried she been given unclear information and is confusing. It’s a nightmare

Sounds like she’s missed her slot so needs to take what she’s been given and then try to swap after that. Very common and she probably will end up with something closer to what she wants.

I know a few going to Lboro and all have had accommodation issues, even when logging in immediately slots opened. It's supply and demand.
Best advice is to take what's on offer, try to swap , but have a positive attitude and make the best of it.

At this stage I'd be grateful she got on campus accommodation. I'm sure there will be the opportunity to swap as it sounds like many haven't got what they wanted.

Thankyou for your replies and support. Yes I’ll advise her to accept and fill in swap forms, but she was unhappy with the room, it’s not what they advertise Thankyou

Not Lboro but my daughter asked for self catering, a certain building and site etc. None of the students got any choice - just had to state preferences. She got none of them - a catered hall in a different place. She accepted it, moved in, found fab friends and has been very happy! Catered meals were brought to their door when they had to SI for a week!
Just wanted to reassure you as I was in a similar position as you last year.

To be honest I expect this will be one of many things which is ‘not what they advertise’ not all will be worse , some will be better but in our experience there is frequently a difference between what is advertised and the reality. Universities are competing for undergraduates so they offer the moon on a stick in their open days and recruitment bumph. It really is a case of buyer beware and students need to have their wits about them . It is one of the worst aspects of today’s ‘market’ for education .
