Leeds accommodation when should we hear?

First dc off to Leeds in September but I am unclear when we will hear about where he has been given accommodation. He went for cheap and cheerful halls so my big fear is one of the pricey fancy catered ones being allocated which would seriously be hard to afford. Anyone have any experience or knowledge about when we might here and how likely he is to get his actual choice.

DS is confirmed a few weeks ago and we're now waiting for the allotted arrival time email !

DS deferred a year so university didn't have to wait for results day.

He's in Cityside and it looks amazing !
@Howdyc I suspect many of them will be in the same boat, it seems so oversubscribed this year. Apparently shared bathrooms get cleaned so that's one plus. Hope your daughter not too disappointed... Now off to research what we need to buy. No idea if kitchens have basic utensils eg sieves, tin openers?
send basic and very cheap utensils. Label everything.

Viciouslybashed · 21/08/2021 11:52

My son is in dev halls which is what he wanted as they were cheaper. We are pleased. He says he's in some chat where people are showing where they are in these halls and noone is currently in the same building as him. 😂.

I'm now stressing about actually knowing when he is supposed to arrive. Ds could not be more casual about it all. I am going to have to step back and calm down I think.

@Viciouslybashed my DD is in Dev too - her first choice. Catered though.

I am hoping we find out soon when we can move them in. She says there's various groups for working out room allocations, and a master Google doc spreadsheet.

Viciouslybashed · 22/08/2021 14:46

Yeah I think the spreadsheet is what ds has seen. I am sure there are people in his part of dev Hall now. We'll hope so. I really am concerned about missing the information about time slots and dates. I am aware I need to back off once he goes.

Dd still waiting, she's getting a bit worried now. Says she's seen lots of offers for her first choice. Sad Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

Viciouslybashed · 23/08/2021 19:11

How long will it take for them to let everyone know? Glad we found out quickly really. Still waiting to know when, time and date ds can move in.

Actually does ds need to do something to find his moving in slot?

OP posts:
ShaunaTheSheep · 23/08/2021 23:01

Does he not have a link to book a moving slot?

LoonvanBoon · 24/08/2021 14:45

Has anyone's DC been able to book a moving in slot yet? DT1 says it's still not possible but worried in case he's missing something. We really need a weekend slot.

Sorry to hear people are still waiting for their offers. It's hard to see why the process needs to be so dragged out.

Brainf0g · 24/08/2021 17:27

My dd also got Lupton - not her first choice. I think she said to me that she can book a slot from 1st Sep. She paid her deposit today. Getting closer ....!

Viciouslybashed · 24/08/2021 18:10

Finally got ds to see if he can book a slot and we cannot book it yet. But deposit is paid. Still noone in the same flat as him according to the spreadsheet.
Is lupton one of the further out halls or have I got that wrong. Ds friend is at Leeds already and she managed to move rooms so that gives me hope if dc is miserable wherever they are.

OP posts:
ShaunaTheSheep · 24/08/2021 19:40

Lupton is not badly located, as it's in Headingly, lots of students there as it's also close to Beckett. Oxley, where DS was is even further out!

DD has just booked her moving in slot.

Viciouslybashed · 01/09/2021 22:12

Ds booked slot tonight.. Feel really sad already.

LoonvanBoon · 01/09/2021 22:20

@Viciouslybashed - me too. I've got twins both leaving (only DT1 to Leeds) and had been feeling excited for them up until now, enjoying buying university stuff, etc. But the sense of loss is starting to hit, even though they're still here.

Viciouslybashed · 02/09/2021 14:07

I feel so conflicted about it all. Of course I want him to go and have a great time but I shall miss him so so much.

I am so emotional now about my ds going. Not looking forward to sat pm at all. Sob

I am also dropping off on Saturday. We need some sort of identification system (Pom bears?)

I am sure they are going to love it.

TobysGreatAunt · 17/09/2021 09:49

Mine heading off today !

Viciouslybashed · 19/09/2021 08:32

Well it was a nightmare travel wise but we dropped ds off. He rang on our journey home to say he was stressed and worried. His autism has meant he's struggling so I hope he settles and embraces it. I miss him already though.
