Just that really…. When do Universities get A level results from UCAS? Do they have them already or is it from 4th?

They receive them a few days in advance - I think it’s the Friday this year.

titchy · 01/08/2021 12:27

Wednesday evening this year.

TheDrsDocMartens · 01/08/2021 12:29

UCAS updates at midnight-ish so you can see there before the results come. Last year it was a similar time though so no guarantees.

titchy · 01/08/2021 12:31

Students get them on the morning of the 10th.

Ironoaks · 01/08/2021 12:49

Usually 6 days before they are released to the candidates.

Apeirogon · 01/08/2021 12:51

Universities get them on the 4th, but there is an embargo so they cannot release them to students before results day on 10th Aug.

toomuchfaster · 01/08/2021 13:24

I heard an ad on the radio for clearing spaces this morning so I assumed the Uni already had the results!

spotcheck · 01/08/2021 13:44

'Clearing' has been in force for awhile.

Apeirogon · 01/08/2021 13:47

Some unis will already know they have clearing places available even before the results come out.

LaLaFlottes · 01/08/2021 19:34

Thanks all! I had read that about the 4th and the embargo and wondered what it all meant!

UCAS always has them beforehand so that they can carry out their decision making process as they whether to accept people with dropped grades or whether to release to insurnace unis etc and so that by the time UCAS is updated those decisions are reflected.

You mean unis! UCAS don't make any decisions!
MarchingFrogs · 02/08/2021 10:10

UCAS does have the results first to process them, though, as in, match up the result with the applicant and the university/ies that need to know them.

What’s UCAS’ role?
We receive assessment grades and results from many awarding bodies. We then match these to your students’ applications and send them to the universities and colleges that are holding offers for them.

SeasonFinale · 02/08/2021 17:53

@titchy whoops yes. Unis have them beforehand to make the decisions but they are also uploaded to UCAS beforehand and schools usually get them the day before via UCAS but this year will get them say day but earlier but still subject to the 8.30am embargo for release to students

LaLaFlottes · 02/08/2021 17:57

Hi @SeasonFinale so is it correct that Unis get them on the 4th this year to get themselves organised?

OP posts:
LaLaFlottes · 02/08/2021 18:00

Actually yes I think it must be 4th that Unis get the results as DD’s firm choice have emailed saying that their admissions service will be closed between 4th and 9th while they process results Smile

OP posts:
SeasonFinale · 02/08/2021 18:05

It is usually the Friday evening before when it as a Thursday results day so it would make sense to be a not earlier this year as it is a Tuesday results day.

LaLaFlottes · 02/08/2021 18:06

Thank you Smile
