My DS really struggled with his mental health during the pandemic and decided not to apply for Uni until next year.

He’s now in a much better place and thinking about applying via clearing on results day but we have no idea how this works/ if it’s possible when he hasn’t done a UCAS application.

Has anyone any experience of this situation?

You should speak to your son’s school. They will be able to give you all the advice you need. Alternatively, telephone one of the universities your son is thinking of applying to.

Yes he can apply now! Follow the pp's link for details. Check uni websites for clearing vacancies.

He can apply now if he’d like, through the UCAS website. Clearing is open and he doesn’t need to wait until results day.
Work through the info on UCAS to understand the process - there are some really helpful videos.

One of my friend's sons did this last year. He hadn't planned to go to uni at all and started working in 2019 when he left school but when he lost his job in covid she said it made him rethink his decisions. He apparently just decided in the first week of September 2020 that he wanted to go to uni (he'd already decided the course and the uni that appealed) and got a place the same day.
