Hi, I am a newly retired teacher with over 30 years experience of the university application process and am considering setting up a small business to give bespoke advice and support to Sixth Form students and their parents on all aspects of university application as well as other areas such as Oxbridge/EPQ/LNAT as well as general study skills for A level and beyond. I am seeking advice and feedback as to whether there would be a demand for such a service and would be very grateful for any comments you may have. Thanks in advance.

Universities have outreach and recruitment teams which provide this kind of support, with widening participation schools also able to access support from the UniConnect programme.
I wouldn’t have through there would be much demand, and would be concerned with how you’d stay up to date - particularly with the huge changes coming up around life long learning entitlement and PQA

Sounds like a good idea in theory but would they not get this advice from school?

Focusing on study skills specifically would probably be a better option and I definitely think there would be huge demand!

HE lecturer here and would agree that there's a whole department to assist within universities. BUT the applicants that most often struggle with the process are the mature career changers who don't have the support of schools or colleges to navigate the UCAS system (and could probably do with return to study and student finance advice)
