We have to make a decision this weekend. DD is more bothered about having a nice room rather than whether she is in town, Clifton or Stoke Bishop. Any advice on the nicer accommodation blocks?

I agree @kindlyensure we did a visit a few weeks ago, dd loved the Clifton area and really hopes she gets her first choice. She thought she would put Churchill as second choice but when we went to have a look, she didn’t like it at all. Can’t remember what she’s put for second choice now.

My DS was in Goldney and loved it. Stayed throughout lockdown and had a good time. I think the uni handled covid well. I agree with the other posters that say Clifton is a lovely area to be in.

Being in the city seems to be quite popular this year. Walking distance to pubs was a bonus this past month I think. Mine loved her flatmates so much she's living with them again next year, plus 2 other hall friends. So nice room can go with nice and sociable too. Their kitchen was massive !

There is a free shuttle bus from Stoke Bishop every 15 mins or so.

Hiatt Baker at Stoke Bishop is mostly s/c as far as I know.

My Dc says that during lockdown the catered students had a really miserable time because the students were not allowed to eat together, and they didn’t have the big communal kitchen spaces. The Hiatt Baker kitchens are lovely, the rooms seem to suffer badly from condensation.

So DS has been allocated Badock Halls and catered but at least in his 9 choices unlike a friend who has been allocated one outside their nine! Anyone had experience of catered there?

My DD was there. I think the food was okay. She was something of a fussy eater but I think catered halls made her very much less fussy! The kitchens for cooking in at the weekend are not great. They often got Dominos etc and the rooms were a bit scruffy but that didn't bother her at all. She had a blast living there and made some great friends. She knew no one when she went to Bristol and she is a fairly quiet girl but she soon came out of her shell and got on with getting to know people. I hope your DS has a great time there.

Yes the rooms do look "basic" as they are described. I was wondering how much storage there was in the rooms? @ApolloandDaphne

Badock is known as party-friendly Wink

DD has a lot of clothes and she managed. I think she had some flat plastic storage boxes under her bed and there was a fairly big wardrobe unit thing.

Unfortunately this was a main factor of it appearing in his choices!
