A level marks but not grades... yet

Anyone else had marks but not grades?

Y13 DC was invited back into school on Monday for a review of marks from their recent assessments. They were given their marks for the papers they did in early May (one 2hr 15 min paper per subject)and allowed to see the marking on each paper. The hint was to look at 2019 grade boundaries if you want an idea what the marks might mean.

The school said Y12 mock (June 2020), March assessment and May assessment will be looked at for evidence of the grade to be awarded. DC is worried about one grade, They got 74% in March and 64% in May. They need 69.8% for an A grade (I think Y12 mock was 68%) .

It is going to be a long wait til August.

How are other schools sharing assessment marks?

I am sure many schools are sharing raw scores to prevent a whole host of appeals come August. If you are hoping for an A star but you see that your most recent assessment's raw score equates to a B based on previous grade boundaries, you are not going to be rushing to appeal if you get awarded an A in August. Schools have got a tough job especially if Oxbridge/medicine places and parental pressure are thrown into the mix.
Schools are trying to be transparent, fair and managing expectations without sharing the grade to be submitted.

For those considering asking the school for more details I just saw this data protection summary ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/news-and-events/icos-blog-on-its-information-rights-work/

DD has been given a list of the pieces of work which will make up her mark, but no actual marks, or grades, or anything. Nothing. She had to sign off to say she approved the list as well, meaning no appeals against the school for process.

Nothing shared here... Just waiting for 10 Aug.

My DD has had raw scores for her latest assessments, mocks and NEA. She also knows what evidence is being used towards her final grade but she is not allowed to discuss final grades with her teachers.

I agree with @Fairyfield and think this is to stop appeals come August.

We have had provisional grades from the school with a (very) short window for appeals, then they get sent to the board and we get final grades in August.
